About Me

The Full Story...

What excites me more than anything else is helping others discover their own potential. I’m by no means a professional athlete, but I am someone who has managed to prioritise health & fitness in their own life and reaps the benefits of this daily: improved mental health, higher baseline energy levels and a heightened overall sense of self confidence. We can't all be Kilian Journet or Courtney Dauwalter and we needn't strive for that. I firmly believe that we should instead, be aspireing to improve our overall fitness levels and in turn, our physical and mental health. From time to time, I still struggle to get out the front door to run, to find motivation to exercise and maintain my levels of fitness. Even the healthiest and most committed people on this planet suffer with these problems. Overcoming the difficult moments is a regular battle and I’ve learned that mastering my thoughts and finding peace in my mind is the key to everything I have achieved so far. I would love the opportunity to help you find this balance too.

At 22 years old, I was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma (Bone Cancer). I vowed then that if I was lucky enough to get through it, I would never take my fitness for granted. Every year since I have tried to enhance it and taken advantage of the opportunity to live my life to it's fullest potential. I am a proud husband and dad, and love advocating for a fitter and healthier lifestyle to anyone that will listen! I’m passionate about helping others unlock their full fitness potential and improve their mental health. I believe with my past experiences and motivation to help, I have a formula that will enable others to achieve what it is they are looking for.

I have spent nearly 12 years as a primary school teacher and while I continue to enjoy shaping young minds, in recent years I have realised that this career no longer fulfils me entirely. Through COVID 19 lockdowns, I retrained as a personal trainer and undertook an applied nutrition qualification, both of which supplemented my Sports Science (BSc) hon degree.  I have since battled with what exactly it is I want to, or even have to, offer the health and fitness industry. In recent years I have achieved some amazing things, things I would have once considered out of my reach. Setting PBs in races from 5KM, half & full Marathons, Ironman Triathlons, right through to 100 Mile ultra endurance races. I have fallen more in love with the art of endurance each step of the way and become more in tune with my body and how it performs optimally. It has taken plenty of mistakes, misconceptions, 'bonks', losses of discipline and a heightened understanding of both the physical and mental endurance fundamentals, to get to where I am now. I have a healthy desire to know more and achieve more. I am excited each year to plan and dream up new goals and ambitions for myself. Helping others establish and reach for their own goals now drives me too. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found something I truly love to do, and I am passionate about sharing this with as many people as possible.

My aim is to work with people from all walks of life. Perhaps you want to go from couch to 5K (or perhaps couch to ultra...), to increase your overall level of fitness with whole body HIIT training, or it might just be that you have found yourself totally lost, demotivated and at a crossroads, searching for some advice and accountability. You might have huge goals and incredible events to work towards, but I recognise that this won't always be the case and it is feasible that you might just want to understand why you feel confused and challenged by it all and need some assistance. I would like the chance to help you recognise what you are capable of.

What sets me apart from most other trainers or coaches? I genuinely understand how difficult getting started is and will never judge you for how you're feeling. I love exercise clichés, swearing and I hope to make every session as fun as possible! Lacing up your trainers, dusting off the bike, jumping into the open water in a wetsuit or swinging the kettle bell during a HIIT session are all ways we can push your boundaries. If you are looking for specific strength based PBs or to lose exact amounts of weight, then perhaps I am not the trainer for you. My training and coaching style is simple, personal and process driven. I'm confident it will get pretty epic results.

As a parting message, I appreciate that embarking on training and coaching is both expensive and intimidating. I have no intention to work with you indefinitely, as I firmly believe I can help you establish health and exercise into your own routine. Long term, my goal is for you not to need me... but until then, I will be with you each step of the way!
